Frank celebrates a podium finish and second in the Ginetta G50 Championship

The final rounds 19 & 20 of the Ginetta G50 Cup Championship headed to Donington Park, one of Britain's most popular racing circuits and home of many exciting and prestigious events.

The single 15 minute qualifying session was held in wet conditions.  This was always going to be a gamble on set-up, as previous testing had been run in dry weather.  A quick start to the session soon faded as the set-up proved less than optimum.  Frank took a lap out in the latter stages to make adjustments but the short session was cut even shorter due to an incident on track, denying him the opportunity to improve on times.  Frank had to settle for starting the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car on grid nine for race one, and grid eight for race two.

Cool temperatures and overnight rain made it's mark on the track for the first race on Sunday morning.  Although the sun was shining, a lack of wind speed kept the track damp.  A tyre choice of wets was made by the team.  An exciting rolling start saw all cars muscle into Redgate: the first corner of the track.  Frank made a blistering start and went for the inside line, charging his way through to third with domination, where he stayed for two thirds distance.  A drying track towards the end of the 30 minute race saw his lap times slow.  Fellow competitors on slick tyres quickened their pace.  However, Frank drove a tactical race to bring the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car home in 4th place adding valuable championship points to his tally.

Frank Jr commented: 'The team made the perfect tyre choice and it allowed me to drive a fairly comfortable and calculated race. My main aim was just to bring the car home to seal 2nd place in the championship and relieve pressure for the second race.'

Sunny dry conditions for race two saw a hectic start as all cars negotiated Redgate without incident. Frank once again produced a storming start to move up the order to 4th going into Cascades.  With quicker pace thanks to the track conditions, and adjustments made by the team, Frank made a move into 3rd by lap 4.  In the later stages of the race Frank moved into 2nd and crossed the finish with this result.

Frank Jr commented: I made a really good start and got straight into the battle for the lead. From there I had a good race and I'm happy to have finished the season with a good 2nd place and a podium. We have had a very challenging weekend, and thanks to the dedication and hard work of my team, we have all got the result we deserve.'
