Frank delivers podium success in the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car
Round's thirteen and fourteen of the Ginetta G50 Cup Championship headed for Brands Hatch racing circuit in Kent, with the first corner being Paddock Hill bend which is probably one of the most challenging in Europe.
The weekend race programme did not allow for any practice sessions on Saturday. The short qualifying period of 15 minutes was a close fought battle with Frank posting a time some eight tenths off pole. He qualified 6th for race one and 4th on the grid for race two.
The dry conditions in race one favoured a hectic rolling start, with all cars safely negotiating Paddock Hill bend. Frank skilfully slotted the Dynojet/Will Hoy scholarship car into 4th place by lap three, and maintained an orderly race. A challenge from Christian Dick didn't pay off towards the later stages as Frank held onto 4th over the finishing line to claim another 22 championship points.
A quickened pace in race two allowed Frank to manoeuvre the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car into 2nd slot by lap two. Consistently high lap speed times put a safe distance from the following pack. Guest driver, Hunter Abbott lead the race ensuring a defensive strategy, with Frank never more than 4 1/10's of a second behind. Frank took 2nd over the line claiming his fourth podium of the season.
Frank Jnr commented: "After the first race we made some positive changes with the car, which allowed me to pick up the pace for the second race. I was really determined to win that race but it just wasn't to be. Its good that we are so close to the front, and after all of the hard work by the team, I hope I can repay them by getting on the top step before too long."
