Lap record for Frank in the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship backed Ginetta G50
Silverstone, the home of British Motor Racing, was host to rounds 15 & 16 of the Ginetta G50 Cup.
An incident free 15 minute dry qualifying period saw lap times tumble. Frank maintained consistently quick times in all sectors. The times between the front runners were all very close. Frank qualified 3rd on the grid for race one and 4th for race two, in the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship G50 car
Overnight heavy rain left the circuit damp for the 9am first race of the day, although the sun was shining. Two warm-up laps were allowed due to the tricky conditions. Frank made a good start and held 3rd position in the thick of the front runners, in a closely contested first lap. Contact at Woodcote on the second lap resulted in damage to the rear tracking, and subsequently an ill handling car. Frank still managed to bring the Dynojet/Will Hoy Scholarship car home in 5th after a 30 minute race duration.
Frank Jnr commented: 'After contact with Christian Dick, the car became extremely twitchy and because of the damp conditions, I was very happy to see the chequered flag and a 5th point scoring position'.
The second race was held in bright sunny conditions. Frank maintained a 4th place slot from 4th on the grid. A couple of early race incidents saw the top two of Tom Dunstan and Christian Dick brake away. Frank and close contender Nigel Moore managed to bridge the gap making a top four close challenge. Frank finished the hard fought battle in 3rd, taking the fastest lap of the day, and his 5th podium of the season.
Frank Jnr commented: 'After the disappointment of the first race it was good to be back on the podium and fighting at the front of the pack. The car felt great, and yet again I was close to the win.'
