24th March 2009
Season opener heads to Brands Hatch for the first round of the 2009 G50 Cup Championship
This year the Ginetta G50 Cup Championship will see wheel-to-wheel action as part of the 2009 British Touring Car Championship package, alongside Renault and Porsche on the BTCC bill.
Large crowds (an estimated 325,000 people attended in 2008), at the BTCC races provide an electric atmosphere and live TV coverage on ITV4, with a highlights programme shown on ITV1, will add to the events high profile stature as it hits our screens in 2009.
Frank, who finished second in the 2008 championship, will be running a 2009 spec, 3.5 litre 300bhp Ford V6 powered Ginetta G50, with support from Dynojet, Formula Kart Stars, 710 and Silkolene Oils, and Stormguard.
Frank Jr commented:'The format has changed for 2009, with three races at each round of the championship, instead for two. I have maintained a rigorous fitness programme throughout the winter months in readiness for this onslaught. We have done some pre-season testing and attended the Ginetta Media test at Snetterton Circuit. We have learned a lot about the new car, and I'm ready to push hard for the best results I know I can deliver'.
